Ukrainian marriage customs

A Ukrainian marriage is a breathtakingly lovely ceremony that is jam-packed with celebrations and music. It can last many days with various songs, celebrations, and various ceremonies. It is typically held on a Saturday ( though quite religious ceremonies can be done on Sunday ).

Just before the religion meeting, one of the most significant rituals takes place. The bride and groom meet their individual households at the residence of the bride’s parents during this event, known as the Blahoslovenya. Ok, the families of the bride and groom formally consent to their kids getting married. On their special day, the wedding even gets to meet the wife here for the first period.

The couples receive a rushnyk (embroidered handkerchief) to move on after meeting their kids. In their wedding, it is thought that whoever steps on it first will be the head of the household. Before taking their pledges, the few steps on this towel that they brought with them to cathedral.

Another custom that takes place during the church service is where several godparent newlyweds bless the partners. It’s really a sight to see that there are frequently 10+ godparent lovers per partners! These are also the same people who will look after them and wish them the best in their union. In the end, the partners makes their way down the aisle hand in hand and accepts their crowns from the pastor, demonstrating their unity as a correct staff.
